GYM LIGHTING

A key area that most people completely ignore. Gym lighting will prove to be incredibly important for 99% of all gym spaces, whether home gyms, commercial gyms or studios. Making sure you know what lights to choose, where they should go and whether the temperature and quality are right to help motivate and inspire during a workout. Lights also ensure you can see what you're doing - which may sound daft. Why not let the GymEquipment.co.uk team help you understand how the right gym lights can make all the difference to your new gym space?

THE IMPORTANCE OF LIGHTING

With so many options, where to start? Our experts know how lighting will affect your gym space. From maximising existing natural light through to advice on spot lights, tracks or LED strips to create a workout space that makes your gym stand out. Gym lighting really can elevate your gym to a special place.

Making sure your lighting works for your gym is all about safety, aesthetics, performance and the mood and atmosphere within the gym. This can be achieved in a number of ways, whilst avoiding common mistakes people make when trying to get the interior lighting right. This includes not enough light or the 'wrong white' light for the space.

WHICH LIGHTING?

There is, quite honestly, a huge amount of choice. However, you can find the right gym lights without the need for a site visit. Stick to the principles of "layered lighting" and the different "types of lighting" and your space can easily become a positive and motivational workout area lighting-wise. See our choosing gym lighting article for more.

Our partners are highly experienced with gym spaces and will help advise you on how to achieve a particular look. They can advise on colour, task lighting, accent lighting and how to balance natural and artificial light to give your gym lighting that 'edge'.

TYPES OF LIGHTS?

Whilst understanding that you need natural and artificial light (if possible), knowing where to put lights based on the need for "Ambient", "Task" and "Accent" lighting could help change your gym for the better. You may also want to consider "Decorative" lights also. We explain more about this in our guide on how to get your gym lighting right.

With all four types, environmentally, it is now LED as the solution for almost every lighting solution. Less heat, less electricity, longer life and complete control over the Lux and Colour temperature of the light. From LED strips and tracklights, to downlights or linear lighting, you can have them in 'Smart' mode, or to be stand-alone systems.

FINE DETAILS

All projects have a budget and a timeline. Our project management specialists understand the practical elements required and when decisions need to be made. With lighting this often means communication with additional contractors. We're experts in 'the details' and can help manage those deadlines.

As part of any gym design we can create initial lighting concepts, quotes and then review with you to get feedback and ideas. We can also arrange a site visit, or just work on the design plans and quotes to bring your space to life. From 9m2 to 250m2 solutions, we love to help you create your ideal training space.

"Our gym was in danger of being too dark. Only one window meant no natural light, so we asked GymEquipment.co.uk to help suggest a new lighting scheme for the room. Not too bright, but enough to offset the black flooring tiles whilst 'opening up' the space. The lighting team were excellent." Pete R, Yorkshire
