Why Use A Leg Extension?

As well as being able to isolate your quads, another reason for gyms having a leg extension machine is that they are very safe when you're training on your own. Once you have adjusted yourself so your knee is at the pivot point for the extension exericse, the axis of rotation will be perfect for you. You can also perform unilateral or bilateral leg extensions - the choice is yours.

This isolation exercise will help you train your quadriceps. The quads are actually four key muscles ranging from the largest, the vastus lateralis, through vastus medialis, rectus femoris to the smallest vastus intermedius. This all helps to build and define your quads and therefore your thighs.
