As Europe’s largest Independent Private School with over 1330 students and 600 in Sixth Form, Millfield School has been represented at every Olympic Games since 1956. It’s also known for being one of Europe’s leading sports schools for nurturing Olympians, World, National and County Champions and for 10 years it has been ranked as the UK’s top sports school.
When Millfield said they wanted a new strength gym and indoor cycle area, GymEquipment.co.uk was more than happy to help.
THE NEW GYM
When Millfield needed to upgrade one of their existing gyms, they wanted expert advice and guidance on key strength machines and indoor cycles. GymEquipment.co.uk were asked to pitch against two of the leading premium equipment manufacturers.
GymEquipment.co.uk offered not just fast response times and cost-effective options, but were objective about the best solutions to replace the ageing Cybex selectorised machines and commercial indoor cycles. We were also able to offer an Annual Service agreement to cover maintenance and cleaning of all the equipment.
PROCESS
First invited to pitch in February 2025, full delivery and install was required for end of August ready for the new Autumn term. We also needed to manage a full extraction and sale of existing equipment. After extensive discussion, Millfield chose customised Exigo strength machines and Life Fitness ICG IC3 Indoor Cycles.
The Exigo equipment gave Millfield the ability to have heavier weight stacks for key machines as well as have customised frame and upholstery colours with logos. They also benefited from the workout placards attached to each machine that was key to helping students. The Life Fitness IC3 bikes offered a commercial indoor cycle with extensive adjustability, magnetic resistance and Poly-V belt, as well the LCD console for metrics and the "coach by colour" training.

OUTCOME
A very happy client and more to the point, happy students from Year 12 through to Upper Sixth - including not just the first and second XV rugby teams, but netball, hockey, basketball and all other sport teams.
Having extracted the strength machines, the flooring was laid and then we were able to oversee the new installation of both the Life Fitness IC3 bikes and the Exigo strength machines across separate days.
