Choosing Your Lat Pulldown

In essence you have a choice between the traditional (bar linked to the pulley) or the fixed dual arm pulldown machine. The Spirit 35 Pin Select range caters for both (the Spirit Fixed Lat Pulldown) but the choice will probably hinge on what you've used in the past in your local gym.

Technically speaking,  the fixed lat pulldown is a diverging pulldown that forces the focus on your shoulder adduction (you bring your arms down towards your side parallel to your torso). The traditional pulldown focuses more on shoulder extension (bringing your arms down and backwards past your body, or perpendicular to your torso). Both version focus on your lats so it really does come down to preference.
