Whether you choose to add a Half Cadillac to your current Pilates reformer, or to go for a wall mounted Half Cadillac set, either way you're buying what looks like a tower frame with a fold out bar, a handle and strap on both sides and springs mounted in the frame. If you are buying to add to your reformer, the moving carriage is useful in conjunction with the Half Cadillac Tower.
The Half Cadillac is also referred to as the 'big tower'. A popular piece of equipment both for studios and for homes alike, it's versatility attracts alllevels of user.
Essentially, the Half Cadillac is a large metal frame that allows you to perform most of the exercises you can do on a full Cadillac. On the frame at varying intervals are connections where springs can be attached to provide different levels of resistance. Attached at the top of the frame is the trapeze or roll down bar. It is often a tower that can be fixed to a Reformer. Alternatively, you can fix to the wall. This is a great option if you don’t have the room at home for a full Cadillac.
If you have been using a reformer for a while but don’t have room for a full Cadillac then buying a half Cadillac may be the answer. There are a huge number of exercises for arms, shoulders, back and leg. It will add variety to your routine but change the way you perform certain exercises. You can use the bed base laying down on your back, front, side, sitting, kneeling or standing on the base or at the other side of the tower using the push through bar, roll down bar and springs with hand and foot straps.
The half Cadillac can help with all spinal movement and body stability. Its benefits are very similar to that of the reformer. You can gain muscle strength and endurance, improved balance and flexibility and increased core strength and postural alignment.
With the reformer and half Cadillac you can work out the whole body and isolate almost any muscle in the body. It’s also a great way to break down the body’s motions into small parts to correct movement patterns.
Stainless steel frames can be the best for durability. They are also resistant to chipping, pitting corrosion and discolouration. If you want to affix it to your reformer then do check that it is compatible. Check what components come with the purchase, ideally you would want the push thru bar and roll down bar as well as leg springs and arm springs.
